Romania. The construction of the largest photovoltaic power plant in Europe will start

The first works in our commune should be expected in July – informed the mayor of Graniceri Petru Batrinut. Europe’s largest photovoltaic power plant will be built in the Arad county in western Romania, local authorities reported on Friday, quoted by the Bucharest portal Ziare. The investment is valued at around EUR 1.4 billion and is to have a capacity of 2,800 MW.

Park photovoltaic panels will be additionally equipped with an energy storage facility located in the municipality of Graniceri. – The first works in our commune should be expected in July – said the mayor of Graniceri Petru Batrinut, adding that the solar panels used there will be the size of cargo containers.

Investment valuation

The investment will be carried out as part of three projects carried out by private investors in the Arad district on the initiative of Monsson. Its representatives announced on Friday that the entire project could cost around EUR 1.4 billion. According to the investment plan, the photovoltaic park in Arad is to be completed by 2026 and have a total capacity of 2,800 MW.
