The police were going to a Chevrolet collision on the A4 motorway. They had already seen two cars that had hit the crash barriers. They were going to the drivers when the BMW hit the 19-year-old and his 46-year-old father. The tragedy was also witnessed by the men's mother and wife.
The slippery road surface after rainfall was most likely the cause of the tragedy that occurred at 3 a.m. today on the A4 motorway in Ruda Śląska on the roadway towards Katowice.
The police are investigating the circumstances and are advising that after a collision on the motorway, pull over to the emergency lane, turn on your hazard lights, put on a reflective vest, get off the road and, above all, stay out of the traffic lanes.
The 19-year-old who died today on the A4 was probably in the lane with his father.

BMW driver drove past police officers, hit son and father
There were two collisions on the A4 before the accident. First, a Chevrolet skidded and hit the energy barriers, then a BMW.
– The cars did not make contact with each other. The collisions were one after another near the Kochłowice district. The BMW driver skidded when he tried to pass the Chevrolet, which had stopped and was standing on the crossing after the collision – explains Arkadiusz Ciozak, spokesman for the Ruda police.
The police officers who were going to the incident only knew about the collision of the Chevrolet. When they were there, they saw that a BMW had also crashed into the barriers. A family from Ukraine was traveling in that car. A 19-year-old was behind the wheel. After the collision, he went out onto the road with his parents.
– The police blocked the middle and left lanes with a police car to prevent further accidents. They were going to the drivers of the damaged cars. Then a second BMW drove past them and hit the 19-year-old and his 46-year-old son – Ciozak describes.
The 19-year-old died at the scene. The 46-year-old was taken to hospital in serious condition. Their mother and wife were unharmed.
