The driver of a Toyota, escaping from the police, hit a pole with fuel prices at a gas station in Ruda Śląska. The Fiat driver, in turn, drove into a building and a container next to a distributor at a gas station in Rybnik. They were both drunk.

Police officers from the traffic police in Zabrze checked the sobriety of drivers on Rymera Street on Monday morning. The 43-year-old driver of the Toyota did not stop for inspection. – Started to run away. He entered the Drogowa Trasa Średnicowa in the direction of Katowice. The policemen gave chase to this driver – says Sebastian Bijok, spokesman for the Zabrze police.

As a result, the driver of the Toyota hit the pole with impetus fuel prices. The fire department had to help get him out of the crashed vehicle. The police checked the driver’s sobriety. His blood alcohol content was 0.88 per mille.

Zabrzanin was hospitalized with leg and hip injuries. The case has already been dealt with by the police from the Ruda Police Department. The 43-year-old faces a sentence of up to 5 years in prison.

As the Zabrze police describe, the man “was very lucky that a price pole stood in his way.”

“If it wasn’t for that, it would certainly hit other drivers refueling their cars, leading to a tragedy” – we read in the police release.

On the same day, around 6.30 in Rybnik, the duty officer of the local police received a report from the gas station in Rybnik at Gliwicka Street.

I saw that the driver tried to make a maneuver, first he drove into the station building, then into the basket, almost into the fuel distributor – he says. Together with the station worker, they decided to approach the driver. – He got out of the car and said he’d fix it. We took the keys from him. He didn’t try to run, he stayed in the car.

Witnesses to the incident called the police. – As determined by traffic police officers, a 42-year-old man, maneuvering a Fiat in the parking lot of a petrol station, did not take due care and hit the facade of the building. Then, when reversing, it hit the container at the fuel distributor – confirms Bogusława Kobeszko, spokeswoman for the Rybnik police.

A breathalyzer test showed that the 42-year-old had almost two times the legal limit of alcohol in his system. After checking the police bases, it turned out that the man had an active court disqualification from driving.

The 42-year-old is facing up to five years in prison for driving while intoxicated and breaking a court order. The police are investigating the case.
