In Rudka (Masovia), the driver of the Fiat lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree. The 79-year-old suffered serious injuries and died in hospital.
The accident occurred on Wednesday before 1 p.m. in the town of Rudka on provincial road number 698. The officer on duty at the Łosice police station received a report that a car was lying on its side in a roadside ditch. The incident was reported by a person driving along the route who saw the crashed car. Police officers on site confirmed the report.
– As it turned out, a 79-year-old resident of the Łosice district did not adjust her speed to the road conditions on a slippery road, lost control of the vehicle, drove to the side of the road, and then her car hit a tree. Two hours later, as a result of the injuries suffered in this accident, the driver died in hospital. The police, under the supervision of the prosecutor, are clarifying the details of the incident, said junior officer Weronika Wujek, spokeswoman for the District Police Headquarters in Łosice, on Thursday.
He failed to give way and collided with a truck
A dangerous incident also occurred several dozen minutes earlier – on the same route – in Wólka Nosowska. – A 40-year-old resident of Biała Podlaska, driving a Citroen, did not yield the right of way at the intersection and caused a collision with a Scania truck driven by a 36-year-old resident of the Biała Podlaska district. Fortunately, no one was hurt, despite the dangerous situation and damage to the vehicles, the policewoman said.
The officers tested the drivers for alcohol content and secured the scene of the incident until the vehicles were removed. The man who was driving a Citroen and caused a road collision was fined.
The police appeal for extreme caution due to difficult road conditions.
