In Rudnik nad Sanem near Nisko (Podkarpackie), a forest and wastelands were burning. 16 fire brigades participated in the extinguishing operation. As reported on Thursday evening by the spokesman for the Podkarpackie firefighters, Brigadier Marcin Betleja, the fire has been brought under control.

– The fire covered (an area – ed.) about two hectares of forest and over 20 hectares of wasteland – the firefighter said. He added that the fire brigade was notified about the fire before 3 p.m.

Cause unknown

The fire was extinguished by 16 fire brigades from the Nisko, Stalowa Wola, Leżajsk and Rzeszów counties, as well as a Dromader fire-fighting plane of the State Forests and a helicopter of the Bieszczady Border Guard Unit with firefighters on board and a Bambi Bucket forest extinguishing tank installed.

– Water drops from aircraft helped us control the fire. At the moment the fire is not spreading. Fortunately, no one was injured, no one was hurt – assured Brig. Betleja.

The origin of the fire is not yet known.

According to the map of the Forest Fire Protection Laboratory of the Forest Research Institute, on Thursday in the northern part of Podkarpacie, in Mazovia, Lublin Province, and in part of Warmia and Małopolska MazurkaKujawy and Pomerania, Podlasie, Greater Poland and the Łódź region were subject to a high level of fire hazard.
