Marines lit a fire during their lunch break, too close to an ammunition depot. When the RPG-7 grenade launcher rolled into the fire and exploded, at least 12 servicemen were killed, Russian media reported, citing a government source.
In early November, at a training ground in the Rostov Oblast, at least 12 Russian soldiers were killed and eight were injured when a grenade launcher rolled into a fire they had lit, the 161.ru portal reported, adding that the Russian Investigative Committee had initiated an investigation into the matter.
“About 20 people from… [brygady piechoty morskiej] during the lunch break, they lit a fire near the ammunition warehouse. The RPG-7 grenade launcher rolled into the fire and exploded,” the portal reported, citing a government source.
All those who died were reportedly from Primorsky Krai in the far east Russia.
Rostov Oblast borders with Ukraineand its capital, Rostov-on-Don, houses the command headquarters for the war against Ukraine.
