1,251 people died in Russia in the last 24 hours due to COVID-19. This is the highest daily increase in deaths since the start of the pandemic in this country. The total number of deaths due to coronavirus infection has exceeded over 260,000.
During the last 24 hours in Moscow, 94 people died of COVID-19 (the most in the country), in St. Petersburg – 79, in Krasnodar Krai – 65. The number of deaths is increasing while infections are decreasing. The number of infections per day dropped below 40,000 recorded a few weeks ago. Since Wednesday, 37,374 new cases have been detected.
The daily “Kommersant” reported on Thursday that the number of people who decided to vaccinate against COVID-19 had increased in the period until October. Vaccination is voluntary, but authorities are legislating that restaurants and public transport will require vaccination codes or a negative coronavirus test.
A total of 9,219,912 cases of coronavirus infection, 260,335 deaths due to COVID-19 have been registered in Russia since the start of the pandemic.
