Russians increasingly want compromise and an end to the war, reported Novaya Gazeta Europe. According to a poll conducted by the “Chroniki” project, almost half of Russians would like to see troops withdraw and negotiate with Ukraine.
Almost half of Russians (49%) would like to see the withdrawal of troops and negotiations with Ukraineeven though Moscow did not achieve the goals of the “special operation”, the Novaya Gazeta Europe portal reported on Friday, based on survey carried out by the “Chroniki” project examining the attitude of Russians towards the war.
The poll shows that while almost half of respondents would like to see the troops withdrawn, 33 percent of respondents are of the opposite opinion. Novaya Gazeta Europe emphasizes that this is the first such indication since the beginning of the war.
Russians increasingly want compromise and an end to the war
More than half (63%) of the survey participants would like to see this happen in the coming year. Russia and Ukraine concluded a peace treaty with mutual concessions. Given the choice between “peace or new mobilization,” respondents were more likely to choose peace (49 percent) than mobilization (29 percent).
The group of people ready to take part directly in combat also shrank from 42 to 32 percent. At the same time, according to the portal, the number of respondents who expressed reluctance to personally participate in a so-called special operation increased from 21 to 30 percent.
The Russians increasingly want a compromise and an end to the war – the editorial team concluded.
The survey was conducted between September 10 and 17 on a sample of 800 respondents. The margin of error is 3.45 percent, the portal reported.
The Chronicles project, co-founded by Alexei Miniaylo, states on its website that it “researches the attitude of Russians towards the war in Ukraine through regular surveys and focus groups in various locations.”
