President of Russia Vladimir Putin awarded Hollywood’s highest state honor to Steven Seagal. This is to be a reward for his international humanitarian and cultural activities, the Reuters news agency reported, citing a decree published on Monday.
The decree stated that the 70-year-old action movie star was awarded the Russian Order of Friendship for his role as a special representative Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia for humanitarian relations with the United States i Japan.
Seagal is Putin’s henchman
Born in USA the actor worked in Japan and has long been an ally of Vladimir Putin, from whom he received a Russian passport in 2016, reminds Reuters.
Seagal, who often visits Russia, agreed the annexation of Crimea in 2014, and in 2021 he joined the pro-Kremlin party. Last summer, he visited the Russian-controlled part of eastern Ukraine, where he met with a Russian-backed separatist leader.
