It is not known what is happening to the leader of the anti-Kremlin opposition, Alexei Navalny, imprisoned in a gulag, his associates warn. The politician was not connected via video to attend the hearing and lawyers were not allowed to see him. Last week, Navalny collapsed in his cell and was put on a drip.

Kira Yarmysh, Navalny’s spokeswoman, said that the oppositionist’s lawyers had been waiting all day for admission to the prisoner in the penal colony in the Vladimir region. However, they were not allowed in.

Another cause for concern is the fact that last week the politician felt unwell in his cell – he felt dizzy and lay down on the floor. He was given a drip, Jarmysz reports.

“We don’t know what it was, but considering they don’t give him food, keep him in a cell without ventilation and limit his walks to a minimum, it looks like he fainted from hunger,” she wrote on social media. Later, lawyers saw Navalny and his condition was fine, she added.

“But now it’s the third day that we don’t know where he is,” she said. Jarmysz also noticed that the politician had not sent any letters this week.

On Friday, Navalny was again not connected to the hearing via video, explaining it by technical problems.

The campaign of the anti-Putin opposition

On Thursday, associates of the leader of the anti-Kremlin opposition who had been thrown into a labor camp put up billboards across the country with a QR code redirecting to the anti-Putin website “Russia without Putin”.

The billboards were taken down on the same day, a ban on placing QR codes on posters was introduced in Moscow, and the oppositionists’ website was already Russia doesn’t work.

Navalny’s online blog published an appeal to Russians to take part elections presidential elections in 2024, but they voted against Putin, for any other candidate.

Navalny, who has organized thousands of demonstrations against the Russian authorities in recent years, is imprisoned in a penal colony. He was arrested in January 2021 after returning to Russia from German, where he was undergoing treatment after an attempted poisoning. The Russian authorities brought further criminal cases against him, resulting in a total of over 30 years of imprisonment.
