Russia. Attack in Tatarstan. Media: Shahed drone factory targeted

Industrial facilities in Russian Tatarstan were attacked by Ukrainian drones. There was an explosion and people were injured, local authorities announced on Tuesday morning. The RBK-Ukraina portal reports, citing a source in the Ukrainian military intelligence, that the attack was aimed at a factory assembling Shahed drones, which the Russians call Gierań-2.

“This morning, industrial enterprises in Yelabuga and Nizhnekamsk were attacked by drones. There is no serious damage, the technological process at the enterprises has not been disrupted,” wrote the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in a post on his Telegram channel. He said that two drones attacked a workers' hotel in a special economic zone called Alabuga, located 10 km from Yelabuga.

According to Minnikhanov, two people were injured. The TASS news agency reported, citing emergency services, that six people were injured.

The RBK-Ukraina portal reports, citing a source in the Ukrainian military intelligence, that the attack was aimed at the factory in Yelabug that assembles Shahed drones, which the Russians call Gierań-2. There is a petrochemical complex in Nizhnekamsk.

The portal points out that Tatarstan is located over 1,200 km from the border with Ukraine.

Ukrainska Pravda posted a video from Russian Telegram channels on the X platform, purporting to show the moment of the attack on the facility in Yelabug. The recording shows a flying drone, resembling a small plane, which a moment later hits the building, causing an explosion.

“Drones attacked enterprises in Yelabuga, Tatarstan, where, according to previous reports, Shahedas were assembled,” it said in the entry attached to the video.
