The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia called Charge d'Affaires Romania Liliana Burda. She was given a note about the expulsion from the country of two Romanian diplomats as part of “retaliation”. At the beginning of March, Bucharest released two high -ranking Russian diplomats.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday about the call to the Charge d'Affaires ministry Romania and the expulsion from the Romanian country attach for defense and his deputy. The communication of the Russian ministry wrote that this is a response to the previous decision of the Romanian side about recognition as an undesirable person of the Russian counterparts. As stated, Romania's decision “was not motivated.”
The Russian defense attaché and his deputy were recognized as Personae Non Grata at the beginning of March, the day after the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs abused Moscow “a series of hybrid actions aimed at undermining democracy in Romania.”

Why did Romania spend Russian diplomats?
The decision of Bucharest was a response to the allegations of Russian intelligence services, which claimed that the decision of the Romanian prosecutor's office of accusing the extreme right -wing policy Calina Georgescu was ordered from Brussels.
Georgescu was a favorite in the second round of presidential elections dismissed by the Constitutional Court in December last year. The prosecutor initiated an investigation against him in connection with suspicions of electoral irregularities. Georgescu praised the fascist leaders of Romania from the 1930s and expressed admiration for the leader's policy Russia Vladimir Putin.

The constitutional court ordered the entire election process to be re -conducted, and Georgescu was not allowed to start in the repeated presidential election. The decision was made on the basis of documents indicating that the Georgescu's campaign was the result of manipulation, probably supported by Russia.
In addition, according to Romanian media, the name of the deputy Russian military attaché appeared in the court files regarding Georgescu.
