Russia. Gas explosion in Jefremowo. Four people are dead

At least four people were killed in a gas explosion in a four-story building in the city of Yefremov, Tula Oblast, Russia. There may still be people under the rubble, Russian media reported.

The Interfax news agency reported, citing a statement from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, that at least five people, including a child, had been rescued after part of the building collapsed. Two people are still under the rubble. Four people are dead.

As a result of a gas explosion, the staircase of a four-story building collapsed. Eight apartments were destroyed.

Rescue services in an interview with TASS reported that the cause of the explosion was the failure of gas appliances.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia reported that information about the outbreak was received at 16:46 Russian time (14:46 in Poland). Rescuers and ambulances were dispatched to the site.
