Russia. In Yekaterinburg, 18 people fatally poisoned themselves with methanol

In the last two weeks, 18 people have died in Yekaterinburg, Russia, poisoning themselves with contaminated alcoholic beverages containing methanol, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation said.

Victims purchased contaminated alcohol between October 7 and 14 from a group of people, two of whom have already been detained, the Committee said. The investigation found that the dead were drinking beverages containing methanol, a poisonous alcohol usually used for industrial purposes.
