Conflict in the ranks of the Wagnerians

The Russian section of Radio Svoboda reminded that the Sztorm Z unit was formed by the Russian Ministry of Defense mostly from recruited prisoners. It is based in the occupied areas of the Luhansk Oblast in Donbass.

Previously, the 72nd Brigade was commanded by army colonel Roman Winivitin, who found himself at the center of the conflict between Yevgeny Prigozhin’s Wagner Group and the Ministry of Defense Russia – reminded the Ostrozhno Novosti channel.

“Subordinates accused Winiwitin of criminal orders and suicidal assaults. Later, the officer was detained by the Wagnerians for allegedly shooting at their car. Winiwitin was removed from his position. Who now commands Storm Z is unknown,” wrote the independent channel.

The Wagnerians detained Winiwitin in May near Bakhmut. When he was released, he accused the formation of “torture and provocation” and Yevgeny Prigozhin of discrediting the Russian army.

The mobilized of this unit are included in the units of the regular Russian army fighting in the Avdiiv, Bakhmuk and Kupian directions. Their task is to get as close as possible to the positions of the Ukrainian forces and dig in, waiting for the arrival of more Russian troops, the Ukrainian news agency UNIAN reported.
