Reactions in Kiev

Yuri Butusov, a well-known Ukrainian military expert and editor-in-chief of the censor.net portal, said in a Saturday post on Facebook that “in one battle, in a perfectly organized ambush, the Ukrainian air defense system destroyed four Russian combat machines at the same time.” However, these reports have not been confirmed by the Ukrainian military.

The spokesman of the Ukrainian Air Force Yuri Ihnat, referring to this incident, said that “Russian propaganda is currently considering many options, from the actions of Russian partisans to the work of Ukrainian fighters, Russian and Ukrainian air defense, the activities of Ukrainian partisans and so on.”

“There are many versions, there is a lot of hysteria, we are watching it and, of course, we are very happy about it,” Ihnat said.

According to the Ukrainian military portal Defense Express, the Russian anti-aircraft defense may have “confused” its own planes and helicopters with “Ukrainian drones”, which have recently “regularly appeared in the airspace” Russia“.
