Russian state news agencies reported the verdict against a Russian accused of high treason on Friday. A court in Tver near Moscow sentenced Sergei Kabanov to 12.5 years in prison. He will serve his sentence in a maximum security penal colony.

According to Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), Kabanov smuggled parts used in Russian anti-aircraft missile systems and radar weapons systems. The man was supposed to take them away from Russia to Latvia and then sent to an American company based in Alabama, which – according to the TASS propaganda agency – was supposedly controlled by the Department of Defense USA.
