Russia shoots down its own drones over Belarus, claims it was Ukrainian

The Russian invasion of Ukraine began 926 days ago. Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief General Oleksandr Syrsky told CNN that Kiev's offensive in Russia's Kursk region is showing results. Russia shot down its own drones over Belarus. Pro-Kremlin media say they were Ukrainian. Here's what happened in and around Ukraine over the past 24 hours.

> On Friday morning, Russian drones attacked the Lviv region. Fragments of the downed drone fell in the village of Malekhiv near Lvivcausing a fire in the warehouses – said the mayor of the city Andriy Sadovyi. The Air Force Ukraine reported at night about drones that were also heading towards other regions: Poltava, Kiev and Cherkasy. They also reported that enemy aircraft dropped guided bombs KAB over the Kherson region.

> The death toll has risen to 55 Tuesday's Russian attack in Poltava in central-eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian State Emergency Service reported on Telegram on Thursday. 328 people were injured.

> At least eight combat drones entered Belarusian airspace on the night of Wednesday to Thursday. Two of them were shot down. Minsk does not mention who owned the destroyed drones. According to the Belarusian Hayun monitoring group, they are Russian Shaheds. Pro-Kremlin media, on the other hand, claim that this is a Ukrainian attack on Belarus.

> During the day, the number Russian victims – dead and wounded soldiers – increases by an average of 1,187 – the British Ministry of Defence reported, citing data from the Ukrainian General Staff. According to estimates by the Ukrainian command, since the beginning of the armed aggression, the Ukrainian army has lost over 621 thousand soldiers. How many of them were killed and how many wounded – the General Staff in Kiev does not specify.

> Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrsky said in an interview with CNN that Kiev's offensive in Kursk Oblast in Russia is bringing results. He stressed that for six days there had been no Russian advances on the key sector of the Eastern Front.

> President Serbia Aleksandar Vucic he rejected the invitation of the president of Russia Vladimir Putin for the BRICS summit, which will be held in October in Kazan. The Serbian leader noted that he expects “important guests from abroad” at the same time.

> The Ukrainian parliament has elected new head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is 49-year-old Andriy Sybiha, an associate of President Volodymyr Zelensky, a former deputy minister. Sybiha previously worked as a Ukrainian diplomat, among other places, in Poland.

> President Romania Klaus Iohannis signed a law on the transfer of Romanian Patriot missile systems to Ukraine. The project initiated by the government was voted on in parliament this week.
