The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducted a special operation at the base of the Russian fleet in Novorossiysk. As a result, the landing ship Olenigorskiy Gorniak was seriously damaged, the Ukrainian Pravda portal reported, citing its own sources.
A video recording of a successful attack on a Russian ship carried out on the night of Thursday to Friday has appeared on the web.
“The recording shows an SBU water drone loaded with 450 kilograms of TNT attacking an enemy ship with about 100 crew members,” Ukrainian Pravda wrote.
The recording that appeared on the network shows the vessel approaching the Russian ship. When it reaches the side, the picture breaks off.
“As a result of the attack, Olenegogorskiy Gorniak was seriously damaged and is currently unable to carry out its combat missions. Thus, all statements by the Russians about the ‘repulsed attack’ are untrue,” an SBU source quoted by Ukrainian Pravda said.
The scale of damage to the landing craft was not specified. According to reports from the Ukrainian agency UNIAN, Olenegogorskij Gornyak while being towed listed to the left side and is probably sinking. UNIAN refers to the reports of pro-war Russian bloggers.
Krasnodar Krai, where Novorossiysk is located, said on Friday morning that there were “no casualties or injuries” as a result of the Ukrainian attack. They also reported that the landing craft Olenigorskiy Gorniak “participated in repelling the attack.”
