A court in Moscow ordered removal from Yandex search engine plans, maps and photos of one of the largest Russian oil refineries, reports the Russian news agency TASS.
In its decision, the court called on Yandex LLC to “disabling access to information about infrastructure (…) by removing and retouching graphic images of enterprise elements (workshops, compressor stations, places with tanks, other elements of the plant) from the service (…) Yandex Maps“.
Court: Materials in Yandex “undermine the defense capacity” of Russia
During the trial, the plaintiff noted that search engine users Yandex have free access for information, a the plant is of strategic importance.
Court in Moscow also found that the materials available on the Internet “they undermine the state's defense capacity and have a negative impact on the timely delivery of products to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
Yandex is intended to meet the requirements within a month from the entry into force of the court decision. From the company a “state fee” was also charged.
The judgment of the court in Moscow may apply to the Ryazan refinery
The court's announcement did not specify which of the plants it was referring to. The independent Russian website Mediazona reported that the case concerned refinery in Ryazanbelonging to the concern's daughter company Rosneft.
In 2024, Ukrainian drones attacked the refinery four times (in March, May, July and August) – Mediazona informs. As a result of the attacks, the refinery's infrastructure was damaged, and a workers were injured.
