The tension around Ukraine, which Russia is threatening with invasion, is growing, so Western allies and the United States are talking about sending an additional several thousand soldiers to Europe before a possible attack by the Russians, reports CNN, citing three different sources in the US administration.

According to CNN, the conversation takes place among the US and a few allies. It is about potentially sending thousands of soldiers to the countries of NATO’s eastern flank. No decisions have been made yet, the station sources add.

The countries considering admitting additional troops are Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary, according to CNN, all three sources said. According to two of them, the contingents would number around 1,000 soldiers and would be similar to those currently operating in Poland and the Baltic states.

According to an anonymous European diplomat quoted by CNN, apart from the United States, it is ready to send troops to the eastern flank, among others, Great Britain.
