President Andrzej Duda will discuss the situation related to Russia’s attack on Ukraine during the National Security Council. The meeting, which will start at 1 p.m., is expected to be attended by representatives of the parliamentary opposition.

At 1 p.m., the National Security Council will meet to discuss the current situation related to the threat of invasion Russian on Ukraine. Boss National Security Bureau Paweł Soloch emphasized that the meeting would be secret. According to the announcements, representatives of the opposition intend to ask during the deliberations, among other things, how Poland is prepared for a possible conflict in the East.


The leader of the Civic Platform will not be among the participants of the Supervisory Board meeting Donald Tusk – at the press conference on Thursday, he stressed that “he did not receive an invitation to a meeting of the National Security Council, although it would certainly be a good opportunity to build solidary cooperation between the rulers and the opposition.”

– I hope that the president and the Polish government will quickly come to the conclusion that, in the face of such a serious threat, they will want to jointly build a safe Poland and a Poland in which everyone cooperates without exception for the sake of Polish security – said Tusk. – Anyway, I am at my disposal, in this matter I will not hesitate for a moment – he assured.

Andrzej Duda convenes the National Security Council

President Andrzej Duda announced the convening of the National Security Council after Wednesday’s videoconference devoted to the situation around Ukraine and on NATO’s eastern flank.

In a statement after its conclusion, Andrzej Duda said that at the meeting of the Supervisory Board he would like to share with the most important participants of the Polish political scene the knowledge and picture of the situation that “arises as a result of all these meetings and talks” that he has recently been conducting.

The talks were attended by US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, as well as Italian and British Prime Ministers Mario Draghi and Great Britain Boris Johnson, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Council Charles Michel and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

The Supervisory Board is composed of: the Marshal of the Sejm, the Marshal of the Senate, the Prime Minister, the Head of the Ministry of National Defense, the Head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, the Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the minister coordinator of special services, heads of political groups with a parliamentary or deputy club or the chairman of these clubs, the Head of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland and the Head of the National Security Bureau.
