Russian Igor P. suspected of espionage on the sanctions list of the Ministry of Interior and Administration

The Russian Igor P., suspected of espionage, has been entered on the sanction list of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration. At the request of the Military Counterintelligence Service, the funds of him and his related companies were frozen. The Russian has been living in Poland for years. Stanisław Żaryn, the deputy minister of special services coordinator, said that the man had been arrested in April.

Igor P. was placed on the sanctions list at the request of the Head of the Military Counterintelligence Service. In Poland and Russia ran a business in the field of international forwarding in directions European Union – Russian Federation – European Union. In addition to him, the list includes four companies he is a co-owner or owner of. This is ARENA SP. z o. o., VAN BERG SP. z o. o. and BALTIC SPORT TRADE Sp. z o. o. with its registered office in Gdynia and OOO ATM with its registered office in Kaliningrad.

A Russian suspected of spying is in custody

Deputy minister coordinator of special services, Stanisław Żaryn, told PAP on Thursday that a citizen of the Russian Federation entered on the list was detained in April last year by the Military Police in connection with information collected by SKW.

– The evidence collected by the SKW and later the Military Police indicates that the man is involved in espionage activities for the Russian Federation. He heard such allegations in the investigation that is pending at the prosecutor’s office, and according to the court’s decision, he was arrested and is awaiting the conclusion of the investigation and then, I hope, a quick trial, said Żaryn.

He added that the recognition of the services shows that the suspect acted to collect information on the combat readiness of the Armed Forces, as well as military FOR THIS in Poland. – This information is not only critical for our country, but also sensitive and important for the entire NATO at the moment – said the secretary of state.

The entry on the sanctions list and the freezing of the Russian’s assets – as he explained – were made so that his economic and financial activities would not in any way contribute to the Russian budget and would not finance the war. – These are actions for which Polish MIA was authorized on the basis of the act adopted last year – recalled Żaryn.

Justification of the head of SKW in the case of Igor P.

The head of the Military Counterintelligence Service in the justification of the application for entry on the list wrote that Igor P. has been staying in Poland since 2003. In 2009, he was granted the status of a long-term resident of the European Communities on the basis of a residence card. According to the head of counterintelligence, the position of an international businessman created by the Russian and his hobby focused on participation in historical reconstruction events allowed him to gain credibility in the territory of the Republic of Poland, the EU and the Schengen Area.

The justification also reads that the suspect participated in trade in technologies and services of strategic importance for maintaining international peace and security, and supplied individuals from the Russian Federation with dual-use goods, i.e. goods that can be used for both civil and military purposes.

Sanctions list of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration

The 53-year-old Russian and related companies were placed on the sanctions list maintained by the Minister of the Interior and Administration on Wednesday. The steps taken against the suspect include the freezing of all his funds and economic resources, the prohibition of making any funds or economic resources available to him, and the prohibition of knowingly and intentionally participating in activities the purpose or effect of which is to circumvent these sanctions.

The sanction list operates on the basis of the provisions of the Act on special solutions in the field of counteracting the promotion of aggression on Ukraine and for the protection of national security. Polish sanctions are a supplement to EU solutions, which, according to the act, they cannot duplicate.
