Putin will certainly implement his announcement of deploying tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus, said Belarusian oppositionist, former Belarusian ambassador to Poland, Pawel Latushka. He stressed that “decisions must be made today” because “the problem is that the European Union always reacts after the fact.”

On Saturday Vladimir Putin said that Russia intends to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. According to Putin, Russia handed over Belarus among others ten planes that can carry nuclear missiles, and by June 1, warehouses to store these weapons are to be built.

When asked about the chances of realizing Putin’s announcement, Latushka said that “it will happen for sure”. – We warned about this in Berlin, probably in the spring of last year, having such information about the intentions of the two dictators – he added.

“Decisions must be made today”

He assessed that Poland “is certainly in danger due to the fact that Lukashenko’s regime still rules in Belarus.” – So far, these threats have been associated with a hybrid war, mass repression in Belarus, refugees from Belarus, of whom there are over 200,000 in Poland, (…) the hijacking of a plane, aggression against Ukraine, in which Lukashenko participated – he reminded.

– Now tactical nuclear weapons will certainly be a challenge for the security of the Republic of Poland, but also LithuaniaLatvia and, of course, Ukraine, he said.

He added that “the deployment of these weapons on the territory of Belarus gives Lukashenka additional instruments to scare neighboring countries.” – You have to make decisions today – emphasized Łatuszka and assessed that “the problem is that European Union always reacts after the fact, and does not try to prevent some negative scenarios.”
