General Drewniak: such flights are used to obtain reconnaissance information

This situation was discussed in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 by habilitated doctor Agnieszka Legucka from the Vistula Academy of Finance and Business, a representative of the Polish Institute of International Affairs, and General Tomasz Drewniak, a former air force inspector, Stratpoints foundation expert.

General Drewniak pointed out that there is a “big difference between the state border in the airspace and the area where Poland supervises the airspace”.

– These are two different things. Because there can be no holes in the airspace, so the Baltic Sea is divided into specific sectors in which Poland supervises the airspace much larger than the state border in the airspace – he explained.

He said that the Russian planes “found themselves in a state-neutral space, but supervised by Poland.” – Due to the fact that they did not have the appropriate documents allowing them to fly, (…), in accordance with NATO procedure, F-35 planes from Malbork, Dutch, were picked up. They intercepted, that is, approached the Russian grouping, saw what was there, it turned out that there was an Il-20 plane and two Su-27 planes, and they accompanied them in a specific procedure along the entire Polish coast, until colleagues from the Luftwaffe took over the Russians – described the general Wooden.

– This is a standard procedure, such flights take place regularly, they are aimed at obtaining reconnaissance information about our command system, about our control system, about NATO’s control system – continued the former air force inspector.

Dr. hab. Legucka: The Russians are testing us all the time

Habilitated doctor Agnieszka Legucka said that this situation “fits into a scenario that the Russians will carry out all the time in relation to NATO countries and anti-crisis testing of the activities of the North Atlantic Alliance countries.

– In particular, testing anti-crisis capabilities and looking for holes, gaps in the capabilities of the North Atlantic Alliance. So I would say that here the Russians are testing us all the time, said the PISM representative.
