It is clear that Putin is trying to seize the initiative. He mobilizes the reserves, actually throws all the equipment he still has on the scales of this war – said General Roman Polko, former commander of the GROM special unit, in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24. At the same time, he pointed to, in his opinion, “the only way to end this war quickly.” Janusz Reiter, former Polish ambassador to the US and Germany, said that “the West, in the most difficult situation since at least the end of the Cold War, shows unity.”

The guests of “Kropki nad i” General Roman Polko, former commander of the GROM special unit and Janusz Reiter, former Polish ambassador to USA and Germany, discussed the situation in Ukraine and about how the West helps her in the fight against the Russian invader.

Polko: Putin is trying to take the initiative

“It is clear that Putin is trying to seize the initiative. He lost that initiative on the battlefield. It mobilizes its reserves, basically throws all the equipment it has at its disposal on the scales of the war, fights for additional supplies and, unfortunately, receives them, for example from Iran or from North Korea – said General Polko.

In his opinion, the West has a problem with providing Ukraine with weapons, mainly tanks, which could significantly help the defending country. – To be honest, the British help in this (they are involved in helping Ukraine – ed.) The British, because they will supply Western tanks, Poland has joined Finland, but it will still be several dozen, not 200-300 tanks, which would allow us to really use this initiative that Ukraine has seized in order to drive the Russians out of the occupied territories. This is the only way to end this war quickly, General Polko added.

He added that the Russian army is “an army from a bygone era, a feudal army that is divided into better and worse”, officers to whom “anything is allowed” and “cannon fodder – those who are despised, abused, who are sent after that they should die.”

Janusz Reiter on what would be “the greatest political victory for Russia”

Janusz Reiter stated that “the West, in the most difficult situation since at least the end of the Cold War, shows unity.” – Secondly, what is also important for Ukraine and its future, America is again a European power. She didn’t see herself as such until a few years ago. America is generally accepted by everyone as the leader of the Western world, including Europe. This is extremely important for the future of America and Europe, said the former ambassador to the US and Germany.

– When it comes to military equipment, there is an agreement between America and Western Europe. Just a few countries, including Poland and the Baltic states, want to go much faster, for reasons that are understandable. I share them, too, he continued.

At the same time, Reiter stated that “this is the kind of war that was not supposed to be.” – There were supposed to be wars without tanks, there were supposed to be wars of artificial intelligence, it turns out that we have the war as it was. The question is whether there will be a policy that was not supposed to be – that Europe will be divided, in which countries will join ad hoc alliances, so that “today I know who my ally is, and tomorrow morning I will not know it anymore” – he said next.

– If this happened, it would be the greatest political victory for Russia – assessed the TVN24 guest.
