Today, Ukraine needs two types of weapons – said Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, former Polish ambassador in Moscow, in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24. She listed here weapons that would allow defending against Russian air raids and armored weapons that would enable, among other things, a counter-offensive. General Waldemar Skrzypczak, former commander of the Land Forces, stated that the form of aid that Ukraine is currently receiving is a “drip method”. At the same time, he added that the Russians are preparing a major military operation and that their troops are “almost ready”.
About the situation at the front, as well as about possible development scenarios war in Ukraine discussed in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24, the former Polish ambassador in Moscow, Dr. Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz from the Strategies 2050 Institute and the former commander of the Land Forces, retired Lieutenant General Waldemar Skrzypczak.
Pełczyńska-Nałęcz: today Ukraine needs two types of weapons
Pełczyńska-Nałęcz stated that “this is the first armed conflict in several decades, actually since World War II, which actually has such a risk that it may turn into a global conflict.” – Nobody wants it. The method to prevent this conflict from turning into a global one is armament Ukraineis to provide such military means to Ukraine that the Russians will be afraid to escalate, she added.
– Although there are people who think otherwise, they believe that if Ukraine gets weapons, that’s when it will escalate and then it will turn into something more. I don’t agree with it, but such thinking also exists and is quite common in Europe and also in the United States, she noted. According to the former ambassador to Moscow, if the war in Ukraine were to turn into something more, “it would happen if the war went beyond the borders of Ukraine and entered NATO borders.”
– Today, Ukraine needs two types of weapons – firstly, it is an effective weapon with which it will be able to defend itself against air raids, (…). We can see that the Ukrainians still do not have weapons that would allow them to shoot down missiles and drones, that would allow them to open an umbrella over Ukraine, enumerated Pełczyńska-Nałęcz.
The second type of weapons she mentioned was “weapons, mainly armored, which on the one hand would allow to conduct an offensive counter-offensive”, and on the other hand create a strong enough defense that the Russians would understand that it would be very costly for them to launch an offensive on their side.
Gen. Skrzyczak: Russia has no potential to start another military adventure
According to General Skrzypczak, the conflict “will not escalate” beyond the borders of Ukraine. – Due to the fact that Russia there is no such potential that would allow Russia to start another military adventure with anyone else – he assessed. He added that at the moment Russia “can’t deal with Ukraine”.
At the same time, he stated that Ukraine “is in a very difficult situation” because it does not have its own military potential that could effectively push back the enemy. – The method of help that we are using at the moment is the drip method. It does not significantly change Ukraine’s military potential, it does not allow Ukraine to conduct large-scale offensive operations that would liberate the territories that are currently occupied, he added.
According to the former commander of the Land Forces, the Russians are preparing for a massive military operation in Ukraine. – The fact that the operation is prepared is evidenced by the fact that this strategic command is taken over (Valeri, chief of the Russian General Staff – ed.) Gerasimov said the military man.
– In my opinion, the operation plan is already done, closed, the troops are almost ready. The Russians are probably waiting for weather conditions that will allow them to conduct a large-scale operation, he assessed.
