The funeral of Anton Samborsky, son of Ukraine's Chief Rabbi Moshe Azman, was held in Kyiv. The 32-year-old died in the Donetsk region, probably in early summer, but his body has only just been found and identified. He was drafted into the army earlier this year. “Your death will not be in vain. We will win and we will always remember you,” Azman said.

The Times of Israel wrote about the case. It wrote that hundreds of people, including Ukrainians who are not Jewish, took part in the ceremony at the synagogue in Kiev. The funeral was also attended by the ambassador Israel in Kiev Michael Brodsky.

He was 32 years old and was drafted into the army earlier this year.

– The best of our sons are at the front against the Russian occupiers to defend the homeland. Anton went to the front, fought bravely for Ukraine, for justice and peace, and died a hero – said Moshe Azman. – We will not forget him, and our actions will be devoted to cultivating his memory. Your death will not be in vain. We will win and we will always remember you – added the rabbi.

Anton Samborski was 32 years old. He was adopted by Azman from an orphanage 22 years ago. He studied in Kiev and Dnipro. Samborski was drafted into the Ukrainian army earlier this year, according to the Times of Israel.

The Times of Israel wrote that Samborsky was likely killed in early summer in the Donetsk region after his unit came under fire, but his body was only recently found and identified by his wife.

The case was also written about on social media by the chargé d'affaires of the Republic of Poland in Kiev, Piotr Łukasiewicz.

“The Chief Rabbi of Ukraine, Moshe Azman, buried Anton today, a soldier who died for a free Ukraine, and his son. I paid tribute to the memory of the hero and expressed my condolences to the family. A devastating ceremony in the synagogue…” – he wrote on the X platform.
