Elena Rybakina (7th WTA) is among the favorites to win Australian Openand in the first round of the tournament she won 6:1, 6:1 against the much lower ranked Emerson Jones (WTA 293). The Kazakh player had a fairly easy entry into the tournament, as she met Iva Jovic (WTA 191) in the second round and could count on an easy triumph. American in the first match she unexpectedly beat Nuria Parrizas-Dias (99th WTA).

“Bagel” in Yelena Rybakina's match at the Australian Open. They played two different sets

Rybkakina was the favorite and in the first set she played as a favorite should. Already in the second game she broke her opponent to zero and came out on top safely leading. In a moment she maintained the break advantage, and then she won Jovic's serve again to zero for 4-0. It then became clear that a fired-up Kazashka might be difficult to stop.

Surprisingly, the next two games were not easy. First, on her own serve, the seventh-ranked player in the world defended the break point twice to win after 13 actions, and then she was unable to use the break points herself. She needed three on Jovic's serve to win 6-0 and finish first in just 27 minutes.

After the “bagel”, i.e. winning the set to zero, the second game was much more even. This is evidenced by the second game, in which the players played as many as 23 actions, and Jovic saved four break points and won the first game in the match. If that wasn't enough, the American broke Rybakina a moment later and even led 3:1.

Kazazka did not give up and scored a return break for 3:3 and apparently thought that her opponent had already gone crazy and would not win a single game. This actually happened because series she fell to the favorite five games in a row and finally won the set 6-3 and the match 2-0. However, the second set lasted 54 minutes, which is exactly twice as long as the first. Interestingly, for Rybakina it was the 50th triumph in her career at Grand Slam tournaments.

In one hour and 21 minutes, Yelena Rybakina advanced to the third round of the Australian Open, where a demanding challenge awaits her. Her opponent will be Dajana Jastremska (33rd WTA), who has already beaten Mayar Sherif (65th WTA) and Danka Kovinić (1289th WTA). In the second match, she also scored a bagel in the first set, and later improved with a baguette, winning 6:1 in the second set.
