Flammable gases exploded in the production plant in Rybno in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. One person was injured.
The explosion took place on Monday evening in one of the factories producing windows and frames in the village of Rybno in the Działdowo district (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship), the fire brigade said.
Machine operator sustained burns
The paint mixing device failed, produced a high concentration of flammable gas and exploded. 17 people managed to evacuate the production hall, but one – the machine operator – suffered burns to the legs and face.
– A 37-year-old employee of the company put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, thanks to which the fire did not spread. He prevented the tragedy, but he paid for it with his own health – told us staff sergeant Justyna Nowicka from the District Police Headquarters in Działdowo.
The man burned 40 percent of his body, including his legs, arms, and face. He was taken to the hospital.
