According to the investigation findings, the group operated on trains from Świnoujście to Przemyśl (“Przemyślin” train), Świnoujście-Warszawa (“Uznam” train), and Zielona Góra-Warszawa (“Zielonogórzanin” train). “The suspects first selected the traveler, and then took money from him, usually in the wardrobe or luggage, or consumed alcohol with the traveler in order to make him drunk” – explained PK.

“Another method of the perpetrators was to add substances to alcohol or non-alcoholic beverages to quickly cause unconsciousness. The perpetrators intimidated and threatened the officers of the Railway Protection Guard or the conductor crew of a given train if they prevented crimes” – PK informed.

According to the investigators, the potential victims were selected by the members of the group mainly among traveling foreigners. “Which made it possible to assume that the crimes would not be reported to law enforcement authorities. The perpetrators looted mainly money” – said PK.

“Currently, in the investigation against six people detained during an earlier implementation, who were accused of committing the crime of robbery, theft, including particularly daring theft, a preventive measure in the form of pre-trial detention is used” – PK added.

The charges could be punishable by up to eight years in prison.

Police officers from the Warsaw CBŚP worked on the case together with prosecutors from the Podkarpacie department of the National Prosecutor’s Office; officers of the Railway Protection Guard and employees of a long-distance carrier also cooperated with the investigators.
