The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) is launching a tender for the design and construction of a section of the S12 expressway. It concerns an over 14-kilometer fragment from the border of the Łódź Voivodeship to Przysucha in the Masovian Voivodeship.

GDDKiA announced that the tender documentation for the construction of the section from the border of the Łódź and Masovian Voivodeships to Przysucha has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union. The tender concerns the design and construction of a 14.4 km long section. There is no information on how much the investment will cost.

As indicated, this is the first fragment of S12 in the Masovian Voivodeship. The new route is to lead through the Gielniów and Przysucha communes. “There will be two roadways with two lanes, each 3.5 meters wide, together with an emergency lane. Both roads will be separated by a separation lane at least 5 meters wide,” it added. Two road junctions are planned on this section: Gielniów and Przysucha.

Ultimately, the S12 expressway is to become the shortest route from the center of the country to southern Masovia and the Lublin region. “It will facilitate travel between the western and eastern borders of the country, and thus the European Union countries Ukraine. The road will start at the junction with the A1 motorway near Piotrków Trybunalski and end at the border crossing in Dorohusk,” we read.

Currently, you can use nearly 94 km of S12 in the Lublin Voivodeship – from Puławy to Piaski. 70 out of 75 km of the further section to the border with Ukraine are under construction.

GDDKiA announced that within the next month a tender for the next section of S12 in the Masovian Voivodeship: Przysucha – Wieniawa, 15.1 km long, should be announced. In addition, the procedure related to obtaining an environmental decision is underway for the sections from Piotrków Trybunalski (A1) to the border of the Łódź and Masovian Voivodeships, with a length of 61.2 km, as well as for the section east of Radom, with a length of approximately 67 km.

The S12 expressway will be implemented as part of the Government Program for the Construction of National Roads until 2030 (with a perspective until 2033).
