Police officers from Ostrów Mazowiecka detained a man who caused a collision on the S8 route on Wednesday. The 34-year-old drove his BMW into energy-intensive barriers, and their elements damaged a passing truck. It turned out that the driver of the passenger car was drunk.
On Wednesday afternoon, the duty officer of the Ostrow police station received a report about a road collision on the S8 route near Ostrów Mazowiecka. A traffic patrol rushed to the spot.
– Uniforms on the spot determined that a 34-year-old Lithuanian citizen, driving a BMW in the left lane, did not adjust the speed to road conditions, as a result of which he hit the protective barriers. Elements of these barriers damaged a truck driving in the right lane, driven by a 34-year-old resident of the Podlaskie Voivodeship. Fortunately, the men were not injured – described the younger aspirant Marzena Laczkowska, spokeswoman for the police in Ostrów Mazowiecka.
He sobered up and was charged
Police officers examined the state of sobriety of a Lithuanian citizen. – The 34-year-old had 0.7 per mille of alcohol in his body. Before he was taken into police custody, the uniforms stopped his driving license and the damaged car was parked in a guarded parking lot – said Laczkowska.
Due to the fact that the perpetrator is a citizen of Lithuania, an accelerated procedure was applied against him. – Today (Thursday – ed.), when the 34-year-old sobered up, he was charged with driving a car while intoxicated and causing a collision under the influence of alcohol, to which he admitted and voluntarily subjected himself to a total fine of PLN 6.5 thousand and PLN 5 thousand in benefits to the Justice Fund and a 3-year ban on driving any motor vehicles – summed up the policewoman.
