Sądecczyzna. A man suspected of arson arrested

A resident of the Sądecczyzna region will be responsible for starting a series of fires in buildings and cars from 2019. The police determined that the damage caused by the 30-year-old exceeded PLN 300,000. The suspect heard the charges and was placed in pre-trial detention.

The information about the arrest of the arsonist was provided by the police of Małopolska. The events took place in the Sądecczyzna region most likely from 2019. As the police emphasize, a thorough inspection was carried out at the site of each fire and traces were secured, which clearly indicated that they were arson.

– From the very beginning, the policemen tied all these fires together, suspecting that the same perpetrator was behind them. The officers performed a number of activities, focusing, inter alia, on observing the areas where the arson occurred, interrogating the aggrieved parties and witnesses, as well as using the police tracking dog for police activities, reported the young inspector. On October 20, four fires occurred in the municipalities of Rytro and Piwniczna-Zdrój. In the village of Obłazy Ryterskie, an uninhabited wooden building was completely burnt down, while in Młodów the barn door, a passenger car and a boiler room in a single-family house were on fire. A month earlier, an uninhabited building with household appliances was burnt in the same town.

The policemen selected the alleged perpetrator of the arson attacks. The 30-year-old was detained at his home. In the course of further findings, it turned out that he was also supposed to steal a bicycle and commit two other arson attacks in Rytro. In March 2019, he was to set fire to a Renault passenger car, and in 2020 – an uninhabited house.

The 30-year-old is threatened with up to 10 years imprisonment.
