Arrangements for the sale of the prime minister’s wife’s plot for almost PLN 15 million were commented on in “Rozmowa Piasecki” on TVN24 by Radosław Fogiel, the PiS vice-officer. He assessed that “this is the most normal market transaction”. When asked about the issue of disclosing the assets of Mateusz Morawiecki and his wife, he said that “the prime minister fulfills all legal obligations incumbent on him”.
TVN24 and tvn24.pl agreed that the wife of the prime minister Iwona Morawiecka earned over PLN 14 million from the sale of plots in Wroclaw. In 2002, the land – together with her husband – was bought from the Church for 700,000 zlotys. Plots for PLN 14.9 million were bought from the prime minister’s wife by a company established 10 months before the transaction.
Law and Justice deputy Radosław Fogiel, when asked if the party that had promised to persuade its own prime minister to show his and his wife’s property would one day fulfill this obligation, replied: – You really do not know that we have adopted such a law?
The act on disclosure of the property of the families of the most important state officials, the draft of which was developed in the Prime Minister’s office, was passed by the Sejm in September 2019. At the end of October 2021, the Constitutional Tribunal chaired by Julia Przyłębska ruled that she was inconsistent with the constitution.
Considering that PiS could by one party resolution tell Morawiecki and his wife to show their fortune, Fogiel said that “this is not the role of political parties.” – The prime minister fulfills all legal obligations incumbent on him – said the PiS vice-spokesman. He added that the prime minister has repeatedly spoken about his property.
Asked whether buying plots for 700,000 and selling them for nearly PLN 15 million is “praiseworthy economy or cunning”, Fogiel said that “this is the most normal market transaction”.
