Italian actress Sandra Milo has died, she was 90 years old. She died in her own home, surrounded by her loved ones, said the artist’s relatives. During her decades-long career, Fellini’s muse appeared in over 70 films. She remained professionally active almost until the very end of her life.

Sandra Milo is dead. She died on Monday, at the age of 90. Her family announced her death. “Today at 8:25 a.m. our mother died. She left us peacefully, falling asleep in her bed, according to her express request, surrounded by our love,” said the statement published by the actress’ children on Monday.

Over the years, Milo has gained the reputation of one of the most recognizable actresses in Italian cinema. She was also called the muse of Federico Fellini. Over a career spanning nearly 7 decades, she has appeared in over 70 films. The last production with her participation, the series “Gigolak by Chance”, was broadcast in 2023.

Milo was born in 1933 in Tunis as Salvatrice Elena Greco. She made her film debut in 1955 in the film “The Bachelor” by Antonio Pietrangeli. She played her first important role four years later in the film “General Della Rovere” by Roberto Rossellini.

Her meeting with Federico Fellini was of key importance in her private and professional life. She played in two of his masterpieces: “Eight and a Half” and “Giulietta and the Spirits”. In the following years, she played in films by Dino Risi, Gabriele Salvatores, Renzo Arbore and many other directors.

She also made history in Italian television, where she hosted programs both on RAI and on Silvio Berlusconi’s Mediaset stations.
