Next week, Santander Bank Polska will stop accepting loan applications under the “Safe 2 percent loan” program. The last day will be December 29, 2023 – the bank’s press office informed the business editorial office of the tvn24.pl portal.
Applications for the “Safe 2 percent loan” from the government’s First Apartment program have been submitted for almost half a year. The first companies to introduce the solution to their offer included: PKO BP, Bank Pekao, Alior Bank and VeloBank. In mid-September this year. mBank joined the program. A few weeks ago, the offer also appeared in Santander Bank Polska.
Data from the Polish Bank Association show that as of December 14 this year. banks signed over 52,000 agreements under the “Safe 2 percent loan” program. The number of submitted applications is approaching 83,000.

Santander Bank Polska will soon end accepting applications. “The last day on which it will be possible to accept an application for a Bk2% loan will be December 29, 2023,” informed the press office of this bank.
“This applies to both applications submitted directly by customers at bank branches and those submitted by mortgage intermediaries,” it was stated in the response sent to us.
This is not the only bank that has recently decided to make a similar move.
A few days ago PKO Bank Polski announced that credit intermediaries cooperating with the bank must submit applications for “2 percent safe credit” to the bank by December 20. from customers. It was noted that the restriction does not apply to bank branches servicing mortgage banking and some agencies that will accept applications without changes.
“Bank employees need time to verify the completeness of documents and register applications to ensure the reservation of budget subsidies for customers. Pursuant to the Act, the bank is obliged to register all applications for the Safe 2% loan submitted in 2023 by January 7, 2024.” – explained.
Earlier, the Environmental Protection Bank also announced that it would stop accepting applications as of December 29 this year. It was emphasized that this decision aims to ensure that the bank processes all applications submitted by then by January 7, 2024. BOŚ pointed out that this decision should not be interpreted as the bank’s withdrawal from the First Apartment program.
What next with the Safe 2 percent loan?
The “Safe 2 percent loan” program provides for loan subsidies for 10 years, so that the interest rate on the loan remains at 2 percent throughout this period. plus bank margin. The source of financing for installment subsidies is the Government Housing Fund, which already exists in Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego.
Such loans – in accordance with the government’s decision PIS – were to be granted until December 31, 2027. So far, 13 banks have signed agreements with BGK to offer loans with state support.
Minister of Development and Technology Krzysztof Hetman announced last week in “Rozmowa Piaseckiego” on TVN24 that I would like to modify the “Safe 2 percent loan” program a bit, “so that it is open to more of our compatriots.” – Maybe it will be possible to make it cheaper without causing any costs to the state budget – added the head of the Ministry of Energy and Technology.
He also declared that “the form of assistance in taking out a loan will be continued.”
– We will come up with a proposal to continue this program, and if this program is continued at the beginning of next year, we will implement a more comprehensive program that will affect not only the demand market, but also the supply market – said Hetman.
