Boris Johnson has mentioned the federal government will “cease at nothing to be sure that we get extra rapists behind bars” within the wake of the homicide of Sarah Everard.

The prime minister mentioned he needed to have “extra profitable prosecutions for rape and for sexual violence”, including: “As a result of that, I feel, goes flawed.”

Ms Everard was kidnapped, raped and murdered by Wayne Couzens, who was a serving police officer when he carried out the killing of the 33-year-old advertising and marketing government in March.

Couzens, who strangled Ms Everard together with his police belt after kidnapping her underneath the guise of an arrest, was handed a complete life order on the {Old} Bailey earlier this week.

Questions have been raised about police vetting procedures after it was revealed that Couzens was linked to a flashing incident in 2015, and two extra incidents days earlier than he killed Ms Everard.

Talking to the BBC’s Andrew Marr Present, Mr Johnson dismissed requires an impartial public inquiry, saying investigations by the Metropolitan Police and the Unbiased Workplace for Police Conduct needs to be allowed to run their course.

He added: “We do must look systemically at not simply the Wayne Couzens case however the entire dealing with of rape, home violence, sexual violence and feminine complaints about harassment all collectively.”
