There has long been a discussion in the public sphere whether a ban on the use of phones should be introduced in Polish schools. The reason is said to be the growing problem of smartphone addiction. Minister Barbara Nowacka decided to speak out on the matter. – The education system is not yet ready for a total ban on smartphones. School autonomy and parental rights are key in regulating issues related to the use of mobile phones – she commented recently in Radio ZET.

In connection with the words of Barbara Nowacka, we decided to ask Gazeta.pl readers about this matter in the article “New ban on students from the new school year? There is a comment from the ministry“. On question: “Do you support the introduction of a ban on the use of phones in schools by kids?” over 9,000 people responded.
It turned out that as many as 78% (7,171 votes) of our readers stated that a ban on using phones should indeed be introduced in schools. On the other hand, 18% (1,670 votes) believed that a ban is not necessary in schools. Only 4% (323 votes) of respondents stated that they had no opinion on the matter.
According to Nowacka, the problem with phones does not only concern schools and extends far beyond them.
Interestingly, the head of the Ministry of National Education also stated that the ministry will analyze the ways in which the use of smartphones affects the educational process of children. There are no bans planned, but forms of activating students. The ministry intends to prepare classes and activities during breaks that will reduce the frequency of using phones.
