The Operational Command of the Armed Forces announced on Thursday evening that the ground search for the aircraft that flew into Polish territory on Monday will continue until September 2. The search using aerial means has been suspended.

On Thursday evening, the Operational Command of the Armed Forces published a statement on the “fourth day of searching for an unidentified air object that violated Polish airspace at 6:43 a.m. on August 26 this year.” As reported, “it ended with a negative result.”

“During land operations, in which the Ground Search and Rescue Teams (GST) of the Territorial Defense Forces have been involved since 26 August, 78 km2 of land have been searched so far. The ground teams were supported by mounted units and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)” – it was reported.

“The area of ​​the probable fall of the object was searched in its entirety using military helicopters – also without positive effect,” it said.

It was added that “a detailed analysis of satellite images of the designated section of the area is currently underway.”

Suspended search using aerial means

The announcement also included two decisions by the Operational Commander of the RSZ: – suspension of searches using air assets; – continuation of ground searches conducted by the NZPR with the Territorial Defense Forces, supported by horse patrols and supported by the Polish Hunting Association, until September 2nd (Monday). “We will keep you informed about the progress and results of search operations on an ongoing basis,” it was announced.

Explosions were heard in the Lviv region, which borders Poland, and in Lutsk, an hour's drive from the border, where a residential building was damaged in the attack. The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on social media reported that Russia fired over a hundred missiles of various types and about 100 Shahed kamikaze drones.
