A 36-year-old resident of Sędziszów Małopolski (Subcarpathian Voivodeship) was charged with fraud by a dozen or so people for the amount of over one million zlotys. He offered contracts that were to bring large profits in a short time. He was taken into custody. He faces up to eight years in prison.

According to the press officer of the Ropczyce police, younger aspirant Wojciech Tobiasz, a few days ago, a resident of the Ropczyce-Sędziszów district reported to the police station in Sędziszów Małopolski, who reported a fraud to his own detriment.

– As the man reported, he was persuaded by a friend to grant him a loan, which was to be used to buy a fleet of vehicles and resell them, which was to generate a quick profit in a short time. As it turned out, the applicant was deceived. He lost several thousand zlotys in this way – informed Tobiasz.

Soon after, more people reported to the police that they had been scammed in the same way.

He took loans from customers, offered quick profits

According to police findings, the man, while conducting insurance business, offered clients, apart from policies, also investments to bring quick profits.

– For this purpose, the man obtained loans from the victims, which were to be used to buy a fleet of vehicles and then resell them quickly with a large profit – the press officer said.

The man also offered investments in high-interest deposits.

Initially, he fulfilled his obligations

– In order to inspire trust, he initially fulfilled his obligations and paid customers the money he allegedly earned – explained Tobiasz.

He pointed out that such action of the suspect authenticated his activity, and at the same time resulted in the arrival of new customers. The man, however, after some time stopped contacting the people who gave him loans, the police officer added.

The losses suffered by the victims ranged from a few to tens of thousands of zlotys.

He was arrested and charged with several charges

A 36-year-old resident of Sędziszów Małopolski, suspected of fraud, was detained, and the collected evidence allowed him to be charged with over a million zlotys of fraud.

The court, at the prosecutor’s request, arrested him for three months.

Police appeal

The police ask people who may have been deceived by the suspect to submit a report in this case to the police units closest to their place of residence.

“They will be attached to the proceedings in this case,” he added.

For the alleged crimes, the 36-year-old is facing up to 8 years in prison.
