On Monday evening, President Andrzej Duda entrusted Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki with the mission of forming a new government. Within 14 days of appointment, the head of government will present an action program to the Sejm along with a motion for a vote of confidence.
The inaugural session of the Sejm of the 10th term, as well as the meeting of the Senate of the 11th term, took place on Monday. According to the constitution, at the first session of the Sejm, the Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki he resigned the government.
The current democratic opposition can count on 248 out of 460 seats in the new Sejm, and PIS – at 194. Despite the declarations of the Civic Coalition, Third Way and the Left to form a coalition, the president entrusted the mission of forming a government Mateusz Morawiecki.
