The Sejm will continue its deliberations on Thursday and will discuss draft amendments to the law on assistance to Ukrainian citizens, emergency contraception and seniority pensions.

After information and questions on current matters, MPs will continue work on the draft amendment to the act on assistance to citizens Ukraine in connection with the war.

The project includes, among others: extension of the legality of stay of Ukrainian war refugees until June 30 this year. According to the current provisions of the Act, the stay of Ukrainian citizens is legal if they arrived in Poland between February 24, 2022 and March 4, 2024.

Pensions and the government project on emergency contraception

Then, there will be the second reading of the government’s draft amendment to the Pharmaceutical Law regarding access to emergency contraception, i.e. the so-called morning-after pill.

In addition, the Sejm will hold the first readings of two projects concerning the so-called pensions internships. This is about a civic project and a project prepared by the Left.

Both projects concern the introduction into the Polish legal system of a pension due to the completed insurance period, i.e. a seniority pension, for persons born after December 31, 1948, i.e. persons covered by the new pension system who have reached the contributory and non-contributory period of 35 years for women and 40 years for men.

In the justification for the citizens’ project, it was noted that this solution is “in line with the social expectations of people who, due to the loss of strength resulting from a long period of paid work, are unable to continue working until they reach retirement age.”
