We are returning to a tradition that has not been practiced for many, many years – said Szymon Hołownia on Wednesday, announcing the introduction of the possibility of individual visits to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. As he explained, in this way it will be possible to visit the lower house of parliament from February.
– We are returning to the tradition of individual visits to the Sejm, which has not been practiced for many, many years – announced the Speaker of the Sejm during Wednesday’s press conference. Szymon Hołownia. – I think we have nothing to be afraid of and we can allow people who want to do it, he said.
Until now, only organized groups could visit the building of the lower house of parliament. This will change on February 1. As the Speaker of the Sejm pointed out, similarly to group trips, in the case of individual visits, it will be necessary to book a specific visit date in advance.
Individual tours of the Sejm
Details of the organization and planned course of individual trips to the Sejm have not yet been provided. In the case of the currently available group tour of the building, it is possible from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The tour route starts at the Visitor Center (building S) and includes a passage through an underground corridor, where an exhibition on the parliamentary meetings during the First Polish Republic is presented, as well as a model of the modern parliamentary building complex. Next, visitors can visit the gallery of the Sejm Meeting Room and take part in a short lecture on the history and present of Polish parliamentarism. The entire tour usually takes about 40 minutes.
