Criminals are very creative when looking for an effective hiding place from the justice system. A 21-year-old resident of Sejny (Podlaskie Voivodeship), wanted to serve a prison sentence for evading the obligation to pay maintenance, hid from police officers in a refrigerator. He had previously emptied it of its contents.
The police informed that a 21-year-old resident of Sejny was hiding from the justice system. The man was wanted by the District Court in Suwałki to serve a six-month prison sentence for evading the maintenance obligation.
Officers looking for such persons determined that the man was staying with his mother. When they entered the apartment, they did not find it, and the woman in it claimed that she was alone.
From the fridge to the jail
The police did not believe the woman’s assurances and began to check the premises. To their surprise, they found the man in the refrigerator in the kitchen.
– As the officers established, the man took out food and all shelves from it before he hid. He hid them meticulously around the house so that nothing would arouse the attention of the officers, reports Sergeant Iwona Hołdyńska, press officer of the Poviat Police Headquarters in Sejny.
Straight from the refrigerator, the 21-year-old was taken into police custody.
