I expect a sharp conversation, sharp speeches, a sharp Sejm, but I do not expect brawl – said Marshal Szymon Hołownia at Tuesday’s press conference before the beginning of the Sejm session.

The second session of the Sejm of the 10th term will begin on Tuesday at 10 a.m. According to the schedule, the lower house of parliament will deal with, among other things, the budget and the commission of inquiry into the Pegasus case.

Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia expressed his hope at the morning press conference that “during this session we will show that the Sejm is a place where people standing in very different political positions and having radically different views on many issues are able to talk to each other, and even if they are not able to talk to each other, they are able to be in one place in a way that will be an example and encouragement for those who elected them, and not discouragement and repetition of some emotions, which are never lacking in this House.

He was asked whether he was prepared for a possible blockade of the lectern and whether there was an idea to bring the budget bill to a vote, as this was heard unofficially from politicians. PISthat they will try to prevent it. – I don’t expect any brawl in the room today. I don’t think it will happen, he said.

– Of course, we, the Presidium of the Sejm and the Chancellery of the Sejm are prepared for all variants, because this room has seen different things over the last 30 years – he added.

– We analyzed all these situations involving blocking the lecterns, blocking the Presidium, and using some forceful solutions – he added.

Hołownia said that he expected “harsh conversation, harsh speeches, a harsh Sejm, but he did not expect brawl.”

Two sessions of the Sejm scheduled last week have been postponed to this week. The change of the meeting date was related to the case of convicted PiS politicians Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik. The Marshal of the Sejm argued that the “situation of a deep constitutional crisis” and the ongoing party dispute did not guarantee that the Sejm session would proceed peacefully.
