The Linette-Stearns duo began the US Open doubles with a duel against the Russian pair Anastasia Potapova-Yana Sizikova. In the sixth game, Linette and Stearns were broken by the Russians and were losing 2:5. It was already 4:5 and the Potapova-Sizikova duo had a set point, while Linette managed to defend it. After a total of four break points, the Pole and the American made up for the loss of a break. In the eleventh game, the Russians were broken for the second time, and the Linette-Stearns pair won the set 7:5.
In the second set, the Russians were the first to break, but the deficit was quickly recovered.
