Australian services face a tragic wave of drowning on a Christmas weekend. A strong wind is raging on the east coast, causing the formation of several meters of waves. In total, six people died from Friday in New South Wales and near Melbourne.
On Sunday, Australian services announced two people kidnapped by waves while fishing near Wattamolla beach in the Royal National Park in Sydney. Although the rescuers began to resuscitate, one of them could not be saved. It was the fifth victim of deadly drowning in this state and sixth throughout the country.
According to rescuers from New South Wales, this is one of the most tragic Easter weekends in terms of drowning in history. The services are still looking for a 24-year-old man, whom on Friday the rocks were kidnapped by a large wave in the Little Bay bay in the eastern suburbs of Sydney.
– This is the result of a combination of high temperature, a long weekend, hundreds of thousands of people going to the coast and huge waves that affect the shoreline – said the editor -in -chief of Surf Life Saving NSW Steven Pearce, who added that in five cases in New South Wales, people were washed off the rock shelves.
Appeals for caution

“Find a place where red and yellow flags are waved, because there will be rescuers and people providing help. If there are no red and yellow flags, there will be no one who could see you and thus save you,” said the Australian meteorological office.
