It is impossible to create a safe, tolerant, equal society without sex education – said in “Kropka nad i” the model, founder and president of the #SEXEDpl foundation Anja Rubik. Left MEP Robert Biedroń, presenting his hair dyed red, said that the change was “a protest against all the anonymous stories of millions of girls and boys who have to cope without sex education in schools”. “I was persuaded by Anja Rubik,” he explained.
On Monday’s International Women’s Day, the leader of Spring, the Left’s MEP Robert Biedroń and the model, founder and president of the #SEXEDpl foundation Anja Rubik, talked about sexual education and the situation of women in Poland in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24.
“Today and in the near future I will have red hair in solidarity, in protest”
Robert Biedroń appeared in the program with his hair dyed red. He explained that this was his “manifesto”. – This is my protest against all the anonymous stories of millions of girls and boys who have to cope without sex education in schools – he said.
These young people, as Biedroń said, have to cope “without the state, without the support of psychologists in schools, because they are not there. “We have an army of chaplains, we have an army of catechists, and we cannot afford an army of well-paid, well-trained psychologists,” he added.
– I was persuaded by Anja Rubik and her foundation #SEXEDpl, which does in the field of (sexual) education what Jurek Owsiak does in the field of health. He supports the state and does good things for the state. That is why today and in the near future, I will have red hair in (gesture) of solidarity, in protest against this great, goddamn injustice that affects kids in the first place. The most vulnerable, the young people whom the state should take care of, provide them with security, and in 2021 in the heart of Europe it will not do that – added Biedroń.
“It’s impossible to create a safe, tolerant, equal society without sex education.”
Anja Rubik admitted that her foundation “is working hard to change something in Poland”. – This is no longer a niche organization, we help hundreds of people a month. Our educational materials have 13-14 million views only on Instagram, which means we reach a huge number of people – she argued.
As she said, “we are actually changing this Polish reality, but there is still a lot of work ahead of us”. She stressed that “lack of sexual education is something that has been around for generations.” She noticed that it took time to “change the situation”.
– Unfortunately, we are a society in which various stereotypes related to sexuality are still very much entrenched. This knowledge does not actually exist, because it is not passed on at school, it is not passed on at home, because our parents and grandparents did not go through sex education either, she noted. She believed that “sex education has a huge impact on our emotional and physical development.”
“It’s really impossible to create a safe, tolerant, equal society without sex education,” said Rubik.
