Danuta Dmowska-Andrzejuk was the Minister of Sport and Tourism in the second and third term in the government Mateusz Morawiecki. She headed the ministry in 2019-2020 and 2023. During the time when she was not heading the Ministry of Sport (i.e. from April 2021 to November 2023), she was supposed to work at Totalizator Sportowy. Former PiS minister received salary even though she was not supposed to show up for work
The audit at Totalizator Sportowy showed that Dmowska-Andrzejuk was to earn PLN 438,615.80 (approx. PLN 14,500 per month) as a “management advisor” and at the same time not be in work for 483 days. “Due to the results of the analysis of employee activity, there is a reasonable suspicion that the conclusion of the employment contract was of a fictitious nature” – quotes a fragment of the notification to the prosecutor's office of the Polish Army.
Sports Totalizator believes that former board president Olgierd Cieślik may have abused his authority and caused significant financial damage to the company by “fictitious employment” of Danuta Dmowska-Andrzejuk. The contract with the former minister did not specify her duties, and it is impossible to find evidence of her employment.
The interested party herself denied in an interview with WP that her employment was fictitious. She explained that “as part of her duties as a board advisor, she was and is bound by a business secret clause”, which is why she cannot reveal what she did.
Conflict of interest? Danuta Dmowska-Andrzejuk full of controversy
Regardless of whether Dmowska-Andrzejuk performed her duties reliably or not, her employment is quite controversial. WP describes that there may have been a conflict of interest. “In addition to her role as advisor to the management board of Totalizator, she was also the president of the management board of SUPERLIGi SA from November 5, 2021 to September 1, 2023. Both entities cooperated intensively,” we read.
Olgierd Cieślik, however, refutes these allegations. “The employment of Ms. Danuta Dmowska-Andrzejuk as a board advisor was conducted in accordance with the procedures in force in the company and in full compliance with the applicable provisions of law,” WP reported.
